Bowen Technique
The Bowen Technique is a ‘hands-on’ remedial therapy.
The technique involves the therapist using fingers or thumbs to make ‘rolling’ moves over muscles, ligaments and soft tissue at various points on the body.
The work is very subtle and gentle involving no hard manipulation or pressure, and the client should experience little discomfort during the treatment.
Although some points may feel tender or sensitive once the moves have been made, more often clients report feeling ‘a warmth’ or ‘a tingling’ sensation.
Some other forms of therapy are unsuitable for people with certain medical conditions, but with Bowen, there are no ‘contra-indications’, meaning that anyone can receive a treatment.
People who have benefited from Bowen include those with long-term health issues such as Asthma, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Eczema, ME, Multiple Sclerosis, recurring migraines, and long-term neck or back pain. One area Bowen is particularly effective in is with childhood ailments, especially babies with colic, and children with glue ear or recurring ear infections.
Bowen can be performed with the client still clothed, as long as it is ‘light’ clothing, not jeans or anything with thick seams, but some therapists prefer working directly on the skin. This is discussed, along with other issues, during the consultation at your first appointment.

TestimonialsDon't just take our word for it, see what some of our clients have to say:
Just GreatI have suffered with lower back pain, since I had a fall, approximately
11 years ago. About 8 years were spent visiting a Chiropractor but since
having Bowen Technique it has completely changed my life. I started
by having the three initial treatments, followed by six monthly top-ups.
I have found the treatments so beneficial and would recommend for
anyone to give it a go, plus it has now saved me so much money (which
is always a bonus!)
